California Sales Suspended: AB 1263 & SB 704 — New Firearm Barrel, Accessory & Manufacturing-Machine Rules Effective January 1, 2026
Effective January 1, 2026, two California laws — AB 1263 and SB 704 — impose FFL-transfer, written-notice, age-verification, and reporting requirements on firearm barrels, accessories, and manufacturing machines shipped into the state; and as of July 1, 2026 a third law, AB 1127, bars California dealers from selling certain semi-automatic "machinegun-convertible" pistols. These sit on top of California's existing rules for firearm precursor parts and ammunition. Until we can build a fully compliant process, Centerfire Systems has suspended all shipments to California. Here's what changed and what it means for your order.
Colorado SB25-003: New Semiautomatic Firearm Purchase Rules Effective August 1, 2026
Starting August 1, 2026, Colorado requires buyers to complete a state-approved firearms safety course before purchasing or transferring most semiautomatic firearms with detachable magazines. Here's what the new law (SB25-003) means for your orders.
Virginia and Rhode Island: New Firearms Restrictions Effective July 1, 2026
New state laws with a July 1, 2026 effective date affect Virginia and Rhode Island. Rhode Island's ban is now in effect; Virginia's assault-firearm and magazine ban is currently on hold due to late-June court injunctions, while a separate Virginia firearm-industry law did take effect July 1. Centerfire Systems is not accepting orders from Virginia at this time, and covered items cannot ship to Rhode Island. Here's what these changes mean for your orders.
