Purpose-built as a top mount for the Mossberg 680, 800, and 695 12-gauge shotguns, it delivers the rock-solid Weaver cross-lock platform needed to securely accept a wide variety of Weaver-style rings and the optic of your choice. The same base also fits the Springfield 03 and Western Field 775 and 780 rifles, with dual extension rings recommended for the shotgun applications.
