The Weatherby Vanguard Badlands is a purpose-built big-game hunting rifle chambered in the flat-shooting 257 Weatherby Magnum. Built on Weatherby's proven Vanguard bolt-action platform, this Badlands variant pairs a hard-working chassis with terrain-concealing camouflage, making it a natural choice for open-country hunters chasing elk, mule deer, and other western game.
Up front, the Badlands wears a 24" #2 contour threaded barrel with a 1:10 twist to stabilize a wide range of 257 Wby Mag bullet weights. The action is paired with a stainless steel receiver built to shrug off the rain, snow, and backcountry abuse that comes with serious hunting. The rifle ships without iron sights and is ready for the shooter to mount the optic of their choice.
At the heart of the action is Weatherby's adjustable two-stage match trigger, tunable for a clean, consistent pull, paired with a three-position safety that lets the shooter safely unload the chamber with the magazine in place. The three-round internal magazine feeds through a hinged floorplate, giving the Badlands a 3+1 capacity for the kind of long, deliberate stalks where every shot counts. A fluted bolt body keeps the action smooth and the carry weight manageable.
The stock is a classic Monte Carlo design with a raised comb that aligns the shooter's eye naturally with a mounted scope. Finished in a camouflage pattern and molded for a right-hand shooter, the stock blends into western terrain while keeping the rifle balanced in the hands. At 7.50 lbs and 42.50" overall, the Badlands carries comfortably on long hikes and points naturally for off-hand shots.
