Loaded with a 300-grain jacketed hollow point (JHP), the round is engineered to expand on impact while still driving deep into tough game.

At the muzzle, the bullet leaves at 2350 fps and carries 3678 ft lbs of energy, placing it in the upper end of what the venerable .45-70 can deliver. The +P pressure rating makes this load best suited to strong, modern rifles such as the Marlin 1895 (manufactured after 1972), the CVA Scout, Browning 1885 and 1886 replicas, and the New England Arms Handi-Rifle, where it excels on medium-to-large game.
