The Traditions 1851 Navy Break-Open is a commemorative reproduction of the iconic mid-19th century 1851 Navy cap-and-ball revolver pattern, chambered in 44 Caliber percussion. Built by Traditions as a black powder sidearm, this model retains the unmistakable profile of the original while adding a modern break-open action for easier loading, cleaning, and percussion cap management.
At the business end is a 7.50" octagonal barrel with a blued engraved finish, paired with a matching blued six-shot cylinder. The frame is cast in brass with intricate engraving across its surface, and the grip is shaped from smooth walnut. Sighting is handled by a simple blade front sight consistent with the original period design. Ignition is via standard #11 percussion caps. Overall length measures 13.50" and the revolver weighs 2.70 lbs.
This is a current-production Traditions black powder revolver built for the muzzleloading shooter, historical reenactor, and collector who wants the classic look and feel of a period percussion revolver with the modern convenience of a break-open loading system.
