The Taylor's & Company 1863 Sharps Sporting is a faithful reproduction of the legendary mid-19th century Sharps single-shot rifle, manufactured by Pedersoli in Italy and imported by Taylor's & Company. Chambered in 45 Caliber percussion, this black powder rifle is purpose-built for traditional shooting sports, black powder hunting seasons, and historical reenactment.
A 32" blued octagonal barrel anchors the rifle, delivering classic Sharps accuracy with a slow 1:18" twist optimized for patched round ball and traditional conical bullet loads. The color case hardened steel receiver showcases the period-correct mottled finish that defined mid-1800s American rifle manufacturing, paired with a traditional schnabled forend.
Iron sights consist of a dovetail blade front and dovetail ladder rear, giving shooters a clean, adjustable sight picture for distance work. The rifle uses single-shot operation via the legendary Sharps falling-block breech action and is ignited with a musket cap percussion system, just like the originals. A fixed checkered walnut stock provides a classic look and confident grip for right-handed shooters.
Weighing in at 10.79 lbs with an overall length of 48.88", the 1863 Sharps Sporting handles like a traditional long rifle and is a natural fit for black powder hunting, cowboy action silhouette competition, and collectors of Civil War-era Sharps-pattern firearms.
