The Taurus 850 is a compact, 5-shot snub-nose revolver chambered in .38 Special. Built on a small stainless steel frame with a matching matte stainless barrel and cylinder, this double-action-only (DAO) revolver delivers the easy-carry proportions buyers want in a defensive or backup handgun.

The 2" barrel and overall length of 7.66" make the 850 one of the easiest Taurus revolvers to pack, and at 24 oz it carries light on the belt or in a pocket holster without sacrificing controllability. The fully concealed hammer eliminates the risk of snag and allows a smooth double-action-only trigger pull through every shot.

Sighting is handled by a removable serrated blade front sight paired with a fixed rear sight. Taurus equips the 850 with a transfer bar safety system that prevents the firing pin from striking a live round unless the trigger is fully pressed. Black rubber grips fill the hand and tame felt recoil from full-power .38 Special defensive loads.
