At 9.53 inches long with a 2.35-inch head and a 1.25-inch barrel, the light is built on a machined aluminum housing with a black anodized finish and carries an IPX7 waterproof rating for reliable field use.

The ProTac HL 5-X USB runs on two Streamlight SL-B26 protected Li-ion USB rechargeable battery packs and is also compatible with four CR123A lithium batteries, giving users the flexibility of USB charging at the bench or standard primary cells out in the field. Output is selectable through Streamlight's TEN-TAP programmable switch with three modes: High at 3500 lumens (1.25 hours), Medium at 1000 lumens, and Low at 250 lumens.
