The Stern Defense Mag-AD .45 ACP magazine adapter converts a standard mil-spec AR-15, M4, or M16 lower receiver to accept .45 ACP Smith & Wesson M&P pistol magazines. Machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished in black anodized, the Mag-AD gives pistol-caliber-carbine builders a lightweight, dedicated solution for running S&W M&P pattern .45 ACP magazines in their AR-platform lower.

Engineered as a drop-in magazine conversion, the adapter accepts all generations of .45 ACP M&P magazines and installs in any mil-spec AR-15 lower. It is the cornerstone of Stern Defense's Mag-AD system for pistol-caliber-carbine builds, preserving the familiar AR-15 manual of arms while feeding from M&P pistol magazines.

To complete a functional build, the Mag-AD requires the use of a dedicated .45 ACP barrel, an enlarged .45 ACP ejection port, and a Glock-cut pistol caliber bolt (each sold separately). Once installed, the adapter transforms a standard AR-15 platform into a .45 ACP pistol caliber carbine fed from S&W M&P magazines.
