Smith & Wesson M&P15 AXE 5.56 NATO 16.1" 30+1 Semi-Auto Rifle

The Smith & Wesson M&P15 AXE is a semi-automatic tactical rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO (also compatible with .223 Remington), built on a direct-impingement AR-platform lower with fully ambidextrous controls and a flat-face trigger. Configured as a law-enforcement-only (LE-only) offering from Smith & Wesson, the AXE pairs a 16.1" threaded barrel with a Magpul CTR adjustable stock and a black hard-coat-anodized aluminum receiver.

The 16.1" barrel is hammer-forged with a 1:8" twist and 5R rifling for stabilized accuracy across a broad range of bullet weights, and is threaded for use with the included Gemtech ETM flash hider and GVAC blast-management system. The upper is topped with tactical folding front and rear iron sights, while the full-length M-LOK handguard offers generous accessory real estate for lights, lasers, and foregrips. The receiver carries the M&P 15-family manual controls, and a black Magpul CTR adjustable buttstock completes the chassis.

Specifications include a 30+1 round capacity, an overall length of 33" to 36" depending on stock position, and a total weight of 6.47 lbs. A thumb safety provides positive manual disengagement, and the ambidextrous layout allows the safety, magazine release, and bolt release/charging handle to be operated from either side of the firearm. This LE-only configuration makes the AXE a natural fit for agency armories, training programs, and authorized dealer sales.
