The Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield Plus is a micro-compact, striker-fired concealed-carry pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, designed to deliver higher capacity in a slim, all-day-carry package. This configuration adds a factory optic-cut slide and a manual thumb safety, making it one of the most feature-rich Shield Plus models Smith & Wesson offers.

The Shield Plus is built around a matte black polymer frame with black textured polymer grips shaped to an 18-degree grip angle that mirrors the full-size M&P line. The slim profile measures roughly 1.1" wide and 4.6" tall, with an unloaded weight of about 19.3 oz, so it carries flat and disappears under a cover garment while still pointing naturally and managing recoil well. The 3.10" steel barrel is finished in black Armornite for corrosion resistance, and the stainless steel slide carries a matching matte black Armornite finish with rear cocking serrations for easy press checks and slide manipulation.

This optics-ready model ships with a slide cut to accept a popular micro red-dot footprint, while still being supplied with Tritium front and rear night sights so the pistol is shootable straight from the box with or without an optic. The thumb safety provides an additional manual lever for those who prefer a positive, decockable safety, and the proven M&P take-down lever and sear deactivation system make field-stripping straightforward.

Capacity is the Shield Plus headline: this pistol ships with two magazines - a flush-fit 10+1 magazine for deep concealment and an extended 13+1 magazine for full-finger grip and higher round count. Both magazines are single-stack 9mm, so the pistol keeps its slim carry profile regardless of which magazine is inserted. Sights, slide, frame finish, and magazines are covered by Smith & Wesson's standard factory warranty.
