The Sig Sauer P229 M11-A1 is the civilian-commercial counterpart to the U.S. military's M11 service pistol, chambered in 9mm Luger. It is built on Sig Sauer's proven compact P229 platform as a duty-grade DA/SA semi-automatic engineered to exceed U.S. military service standards while remaining a practical choice for personal protection and sport shooting.

A 3.90" barrel feeds a 10+1 capacity magazine. The action is a traditional double-action/single-action with a manual thumb safety, delivering a long and deliberate first pull followed by shorter, lighter single-action follow-up shots.

The frame is machined from aluminum alloy and finished in black hardcoat anodized for corrosion resistance. The slide is stainless steel with Sig Sauer's proprietary black Nitron finish and cocking serrations for easy press checks. SigLite night sights come standard, providing three-dot tritium illumination for low-light targeting. Black polymer grips fill the hand and keep the pistol's overall weight to 29.6 oz.
