The Sierra 1610 Varminter is a .257 diameter reloading bullet built around an 87 grain Spitzer Boat Tail profile originally designed as a varmint projectile for smaller-capacity 25 caliber cartridges. A lead core is encased in a copper jacket with a tapered boat-tail base, giving the bullet the flat trajectory and retained velocity needed for accurate hits on varmints and small game.

Sierra builds the 1610 with a .188 sectional density and no cannelure, letting handloaders seat the bullet to their preferred overall cartridge length without a crimp groove. The Spitzer Boat Tail shape pairs a pointed ogive with a tapered heel to help the bullet shed velocity cleanly and resist wind drift downrange.
