The Savage 17000 Mark I G is a single-shot, bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 LR, .22 Long, and .22 Short, giving the shooter the flexibility to use any common .22 rimfire cartridge from a single rifle. Part of Savage's Mark I series, this full-size model is built around a 21" carbon steel barrel with a target crown, mated to a carbon steel receiver that is drilled and tapped for scope mounting.
The barreled action wears a classic blued finish, paired with a satin hardwood fixed stock featuring a Monte Carlo comb and a high-luster wood finish. The stock is shaped for right-handed shooters and gives this rimfire a traditional sporter-style profile well suited to plinking, small-game hunting, and casual target shooting. At 5.50 lbs and an overall length of 39.50", this is a balanced, full-length rimfire rather than a compact trainer.
Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger comes standard, allowing the pull weight to be set to the shooter's preference without gunsmith work. A simple thumb safety provides positive manual control, and the rifle ships with open sights installed for out-of-the-box use. The action is a traditional single-shot bolt with a 1:16" twist, ideal for stabilizing standard-velocity .22 LR ammunition and well within the accuracy envelope for hunting and informal target work.
With its blued carbon steel barreled action, classic hardwood stock, and Savage's proven bolt-action platform, the Mark I G is a straightforward, no-frills .22 rimfire that makes an excellent first rifle, a reliable varmint and small-game gun, or a novice-friendly rimfire for the family. The drilled and tapped receiver is ready to accept the optic of your choice when the included open sights are no longer the right tool for the job.
