The RCBS 18612 is a 3-Die Carbide Roll Crimp Set built for reloading straight-wall revolver and lever-action cases in .44 Magnum and .44 Special. Part of RCBS's Group B caliber family, this set is engineered around the unique demands of straight-wall pistol and rifle cartridges, where a dedicated third die is required to properly bell the case mouth and apply a consistent crimp on the finished round.
The three-die configuration includes a carbide sizer die with an integrated decapping unit, an expander die that bells the case mouth to accept cast or jacketed bullets, and a seater die equipped with both roll crimp and taper crimp seating capability. Because the sizer is carbide, straight-walled cases can be resized without case lubrication, which speeds up the reloading process and keeps the bench cleaner.
Each die is machined from polished, heat-treated steel and uses the standard 7/8"-14 thread common to virtually all reloading presses. The roll-crimp function makes this set an especially good match for loading cast lead bullets in revolver cartridges, producing a uniform crimp that locks heavy bullets in place against recoil.
Whether you are reloading for a .44 Magnum hunting revolver, a .44 Special plinker, or a lever-action carbine, the RCBS 18612 delivers the consistent sizing, smooth expansion, and accurate bullet seating that handloaders have relied on for decades.
