The Proof Research 103340 is a .224 bolt-action barrel blank cut to a 16.5" length in Proof Research's heavy Sendero contour and built around their signature carbon-fiber-wrapped 416R stainless steel core.

This blank is intended for the custom rifle builder who wants to take advantage of Proof Research's premium .224 barrel platform. The 1:8" twist is well suited to stabilizing a wide range of heavy, high-BC .224 projectiles for long-range and varmint applications. A 2.5" barrel breech and 1.20" shank diameter give the blank a robust, target-grade profile for precision bolt-action builds.

Proof Research's carbon-fiber-wrapped barrels start with a stress-relieved 416R stainless steel core that is fully encapsulated in high-modulus aerospace-grade carbon fiber along the bore. The carbon fiber wrap reduces overall weight, shifts the rifle's balance point rearward over the receiver, and pulls heat away from the bore faster than an equivalent all-steel barrel. In this Sendero contour the blank weighs approximately 2 lbs 8 oz, delivering match-grade accuracy potential once chambered, threaded, and finished.
