A clear three-stage LED indicator on the front of the unit displays charge status at a glance: red for active charging, yellow at roughly 80 percent charged, and green when the battery is fully topped off. Built-in reverse polarity protection keeps the charger and battery safe if the alligator clips are connected backward, and a float charge mode maintains a full battery indefinitely without overcharging, so the unit can be left connected between hunts and trips without babysitting.
