The barrel is free-floated along its length from the walnut stock channel and mates into the stainless steel receiver at the breech. The receiver carries the same matte blued finish and is drilled and tapped to accept the included scope bases.

A 5+1 round drop-box magazine feeds the action, which is built around Mossberg's signature spiral-fluted bolt with a streamlined handle for smooth cycling.
