The Meprolight FRBS (Flip-Up Backup Sights) is a low-profile, dual-aperture iron sight set purpose-built for the AR-15 platform. Made by Meprolight USA, this set provides self-illuminated aiming in any lighting condition using tritium vials permanently installed in both the front and rear sight.

The front post uses an orange tritium insert for fast daylight and transitional-light acquisition, while the rear sight carries a green tritium 4-dot pattern that frames the front post for quick, intuitive alignment in darkness. Four tritium vials are firmly embedded in the rear housing and one in the front post, delivering consistent brightness without batteries, switches, or external light sources.

Built around a rugged polymer and metal housing finished in Desert Tan (FDE), the FRBS clamps to any standard Picatinny rail and folds flat when stowed to keep a clean sight picture under a red dot, prism, or magnifier. The set can be deployed as either primary iron sights or as a backup behind an electronic optic, making it a versatile addition to any AR-platform rifle.
