The Magnum Research Desert Eagle L5 is a full-size Mark XIX gas-operated, single-action semi-auto chambered in 44 Rem Mag. Purpose-built for personal protection and sport shooting, the L5 series trims weight from the standard Mark XIX platform while keeping the unmistakable look, hard-hitting performance, and signature gas-operated recoil management that have made the Desert Eagle a legend among magnum pistols.

Built around a 5-inch barrel fitted with an integral muzzle brake (the "IMB" in the model designation), this pistol is configured for fast follow-up shots and reduced muzzle rise. The black carbon steel slide wears a serrated profile for positive press-check manipulation under fire, and the integral muzzle brake is a defining feature of the L5 variant.

The frame is machined from aluminum alloy and finished in a black hardcoat anodized coating to cut weight and resist wear. That lightweight frame brings total gun weight to 34.2 oz, a noticeable reduction over the all-steel standard Mark XIX. A pair of fixed iron sights ride the slide for precise aiming at defensive and sporting distances.

An ambidextrous safety keeps the single-action trigger in check, and the wraparound Hogue finger-grooved grip provides a secure, ergonomic hold for high-recoil magnum strings. The pistol accepts detachable magazines with an 8+1 capacity, making it one of the higher-capacity 44 Magnum service pistols available from a major manufacturer.
