The Lehigh Defense Xtreme Defense bullet is a 325 grain, lead-free, solid copper projectile purpose-built for handloading .45-70 Government defensive and hunting loads. Machined from a single piece of copper, the projectile uses Lehigh's signature Fluid Transfer Monolithic (FTM) tip - a precisely engineered cavity in the nose that channels fluid (tissue) rearward on impact, producing rapid expansion and a large permanent wound cavity without relying on traditional lead-core deformation.
Each bullet measures .458" in diameter with an overall length of 1.130", a ballistic coefficient of 0.23, and a sectional density of .221. The all-copper construction makes the bullet fully lead-free, and the FTM design is engineered to punch through heavy barriers - auto glass, sheet steel, and heavy clothing - without deforming or shifting trajectory before reaching the target.
Xtreme Defense projectiles are a popular choice for 45-70 lever-action defensive carbine loads and any .45-70 Government handload where barrier-blind terminal performance is required. Bullets are packed 50 per box and are intended for reloading only - these are unprimed, unjacketed components, not loaded ammunition.
