The blade opens smoothly via Kershaw's KVT ball-bearing pivot, with thumb studs for easy one-handed deployment. Lock-up is handled by the DuraLock crossbar lock, a robust ambidextrous mechanism that secures the blade solidly during cutting tasks.

Handle construction is gray anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, which keeps the overall weight down to just 3.30 oz.
