The Hornady XTP Mag bullet is a heavy-duty .452 diameter, 45 Cal, 300 grain jacketed hollow point designed specifically for high-velocity magnum handgun loads. Built around a traditional lead core encased in a copper jacket, the XTP Mag delivers the same controlled expansion and accuracy that have defined Hornady's XTP line, but with a tougher jacket and core construction engineered to withstand the higher pressures and velocities of magnum cartridges such as the .454 Casull and similar hot-rod 45-caliber rounds.

The "Mag" designation is the key difference here - the protected hollow point is locked to the core for maximum straight-line penetration, balanced expansion, and excellent in-flight stability, making these bullets equally at home in personal-defense handgun handloads and in medium-game hunting applications where deep penetration and reliable terminal performance are required.
