The Hornady SST (Super Shock Tip) is one of Hornady's most popular hunting projectiles, designed to deliver tremendous shock on impact while expanding quickly and reliably across a wide range of velocities. Sized for the 7mm (.284) bore, this bullet weighs 162 gr and features a streamlined spitzer boat tail profile topped with a sharp polymer tip for flatter trajectories and rapid, controlled expansion on game.

At the heart of the SST is Hornady's one-piece copper jacket and lead core construction, with the jacket thickened in critical frontal areas to drive into the core where it is needed most. Upon impact, the polymer tip drives back into the bullet cavity, forcing the jacket and core to expand together and create large, consistent wound channels with high weight retention. A factory cannelure provides a positive seat reference and a secure crimp location for handloaders dialing in their favorite hunting loads.

These projectiles post a ballistic coefficient of .550 (G1) and a sectional density of .287, making them an excellent choice for medium- and large-game hunting applications across the popular 7mm hunting cartridges.
