This reloading bullet uses a traditional cup-and-core construction with a copper jacket, a lead core, and Hornady's signature polymer tip that initiates expansion and helps the bullet resist deformation in the magazine.

Weighing 140 grains with a .264" diameter, the SST uses a tapered, aerodynamic profile and a boat-tail base to deliver a .520 ballistic coefficient and a .287 sectional density. A cannelure is present for consistent crimping, making this a versatile choice for handloaders running 6.5mm rifle chamberings. The combination of polymer tip, lead core, and tapered jacket is intended to produce controlled expansion and a large wound channel on game.
