Hornady Lock-N-Load 270 Win Modified Case A270

The Hornady Lock-N-Load Modified Case is a precision reloading accessory designed to work with the Hornady Lock-N-Load Overall Length (OAL) Gauge system. This .270 Winchester modified case (part number A270) lets handloaders measure the exact relationship between a seated bullet and the lands of the barrel - the key reference point for setting up consistent, accurate ammunition.

The case is specially prepared with a fine thread at the case-head so it can be quickly attached to and swapped between Hornady Lock-N-Load Precision gauges. The neck is oversized by .002" to accept the same bullet you intend to load, allowing the modified case to replicate how a finished round will sit against the rifling. The case is finished in brass and is sold as Hornady part A270.

To use, the modified case is threaded onto the matching Hornady Lock-N-Load gauge (sold separately), a bullet is seated into the oversized neck, the gauge is inserted into the chamber, and the bullet is adjusted until it just touches the lands. That length is then transferred to your press setup, giving you a precise, repeatable overall length for your handloads. The package includes the modified case and a product manual; the matching Lock-N-Load gauge is sold separately.
