The Hornady Keypad Vault is a compact personal handgun safe built around a programmable 4- to 6-digit electronic keypad, with two backup barrel keys included for emergency entry. Sized to secure a single 1911-size pistol or 4-inch revolver, the slim-profile design works well on a nightstand, in a vehicle, or in a travel bag where fast access and reliable security both matter.

The body is constructed of 16-gauge steel with a durable black finish, and a protective foam-lined interior cushions the firearm inside. An interior light automatically illuminates the contents when the lid is opened, and an included steel security cable lets you tether the vault to a fixed object, rated to withstand up to 1,500 lbs of force.

The vault accepts a user-programmed 4- to 6-digit combination for everyday entry, with two mechanical barrel keys supplied as backup. The unit runs on four AAA batteries (not included). Exterior dimensions measure 12.0" W x 8.3" D x 2.6" H, giving it a low, book-like footprint that still accommodates most full-size defensive handguns.
