The Hornady InterLock is one of the most established soft-point bullet designs in handloading, built around a raised ring inside the copper jacket that is mechanically embedded in the lead core. This locks the core and jacket together as one piece on impact, so the bullet retains mass and energy and drives deeper instead of shedding the front of the jacket on expansion.
This 7mm (.284") bullet is sized for the 7mm bottleneck rifle cartridge family. At 154 grains, it lands in the middle of the 7mm weight range and is described by Hornady as ideal for medium- to large-game hunting handloads. The projectile carries a sectional density of .273 and a G1 ballistic coefficient of .433, making it a versatile hunting bullet for handloaders working up appropriate-range recipes for medium and large game.
The projectile is a traditional soft-point spire profile with a lead tip and lead core wrapped in a copper jacket. A cannelure is present midway on the shank so the bullet can be securely crimped in bottleneck rifle cases without distorting the projectile.
Bullets are sold as reloading components only and are not loaded ammunition. Each box contains 100 projectiles, packed 15 boxes per case (1,500 bullets per case). New-production, factory-fresh Hornady projectiles ready for case preparation, seating, and crimping in your favorite handload recipe.
