The Hornady A-MAX is a .50 caliber match rifle bullet built by Hornady in the USA for the .50 BMG platform. At 750 grains with a .510" diameter and Hornady's signature secant ogive profile, it is engineered for extreme long-range precision shooting, where its BC 1.050 keeps velocity and energy downrange far beyond what conventional rifle bullets can sustain. The A-MAX is a go-to choice for .50 BMG match shooters, long-range competitors, and extreme-distance enthusiasts who handload their own ammunition.
Each projectile is built around a precision swaged lead core wrapped in Hornady's proprietary AMP jacket, delivering the jacket concentricity and weight uniformity that consistent match performance requires. A polymer tip finishes the ogive and contributes to in-flight stability, while a sectional density of .412 and a recommended 1:15" minimum twist rate round out a package designed to hold transonic energy and resist wind drift at distances measured in thousands of yards. The bullet has no cannelure, allowing reloaders to seat it precisely to the desired overall cartridge length and tune jump to the rifling for their specific rifle.
These are reloading components sold by the bullet, not loaded ammunition, and are intended for target and match use. Each box contains 20 bullets, with 12 boxes per case for 240 bullets total.
