The Hornady 2826 ELD-X is a 7mm hunting projectile designed for the handloader who wants match-level accuracy paired with controlled, all-range expansion. This 150 gr bullet is built on Hornady's Extremely Low Drag-eXpanding (ELD-X) platform and is intended for standard 7mm hunting cartridges in the popular 7mm bore class.
At the heart of the ELD-X is a Heat Shield polymer tip that resists aerodynamic heating in flight so the bullet retains its sharp point and high ballistic coefficient. A copper-coated AMP jacket wraps around a lead core, with a high InterLock ring inside the jacket that mechanically holds the core in place during expansion. Crimp-free seating is straightforward thanks to the absence of a cannelure, and a .284" bearing diameter mates cleanly with standard 7mm reloading dies.
With a G1 ballistic coefficient of .574 (.289 G7) and a sectional density of .266, the 150 gr ELD-X holds velocity and resists wind drift at extended ranges. Its recommended 1:10" twist rate sits comfortably within the capability of standard 7mm hunting barrels. At close-range impacts the ELD-X expands with large mushrooms and 85-90% weight retention; at high velocity the bullet still expands cleanly, with the thick shank of the jacket and InterLock ring driving 50-60% weight retention for deep penetration on tough game.
Each box contains 100 projectiles of .284 diameter for your 7mm rifle, with 15 boxes per case for high-volume handloaders. Whether you are pushing the limits on a western elk hunt or working a whitetail through hardwoods, the Hornady 2826 ELD-X 150 gr is engineered to deliver accuracy, expansion, and penetration across the full distance your rifle can reach.
