The slide is cast from Zamak 3 zinc alloy and finished in a tough black powder coat, while the frame is molded from high-impact polymer to keep carry weight reasonable for a full-size 10mm. The action is a straight blowback-operated, striker-fired design - the same proven system Hi-Point uses across its handgun line - which gives the JXP10 a notably gentle 10mm recoil. The pistol ships with a 5.2-inch barrel that is factory threaded in the standard .578x28 pattern (the same thread used on .45 Auto muzzles), so a compensator or suppressor drops right on for reduced muzzle rise and noise.

Rounds feed from a 10-round detachable magazine. The slide is red-dot ready and ships from the factory with a Crimson Trace red dot optic mounted, so the JXP10 is on-target right out of the case. Fully adjustable rear sights ride on the slide as a backup, and a full-length Picatinny accessory rail molded into the polymer frame accepts weapon lights, lasers, or other accessories.
