To compensate, Germany reclaimed K98k rifles from the Wehrmacht in 1942-1943 and delivered them to Portugal. These rifles bear the Portuguese crest and resemble the 1941 Mauser Oberndorf K98k Wehrmacht-issue rifles with Nazi markings.
