The FN 509 MRD is a duty-grade, full-size striker-fired pistol chambered in 9mm Luger and built on FN's proven polymer-frame 509 platform. The "MRD" designation means Miniature Red Dot-ready: the slide ships factory-milled so popular micro red dot optics mount directly out of the box with no aftermarket plate or gunsmith work required.

At the heart of this pistol sits a 4.50" cold hammer-forged barrel finished with FN's signature recessed target crown, which protects the rifling and supports long-term accuracy. The striker-fired action produces a clean, consistent trigger pull with no manual external safety. A corrosion-resistant Flat Dark Earth PVD coating covers the slide and pairs with a matching FDE polymer frame for a unified two-tone appearance, and aggressive front and rear cocking serrations give the shooter positive purchase for press checks and manipulations.

The 509 MRD carries 10+1 rounds of 9mm Luger and ships with two 10-round magazines, making this configuration compliant in states and jurisdictions that restrict higher pistol capacities.
