The bolt is machined from premium 9310 tool steel, a stronger material than the Carpenter 158 steel commonly found in production bolts. After machining, each bolt is shot-peened to relieve surface stress and then magnetic particle inspected (MPI) to military specifications, ensuring it is free of harmful cracks and ready for hard use. The entire BCG carries a Black Nitride finish that increases surface hardness and provides excellent corrosion resistance under field conditions.
