The CRKT 5500 K.I.S.S. is a compact everyday-carry folder built around designer Ed Halligan's "Keep It Super Simple" concept. From Oregon-based Columbia River Knife & Tool, this bead-blasted frame-lock folder strips out everything extraneous to deliver a clean, lightweight cutting tool that lives comfortably in a front pocket or clipped to a billfold.
The blade is a 2.25" dual-grind tanto cut from 3Cr13MoV stainless steel with a plain edge and a uniform bead-blasted finish that cuts glare and adds corrosion resistance for daily use. Dual thumb studs deploy the blade smoothly on either side, and the two-piece skeletonized handle closes to a tidy 3.50" length with minimal exposed hardware for pocket-friendly carry.
The stainless steel handle is skeletonized to drop carry weight to just 2.30 oz, while the integral pocket/money clip handles pocket carry and doubles as a clip for a billfold for those who prefer it. With the blade open the K.I.S.S. measures 5.75" overall, giving plenty of grip and working reach for everyday utility, light outdoor tasks, and office or workshop chores. A small lanyard hole at the butt rounds out the carry options for users who prefer to tether the folder.
A focused, no-nonsense EDC tool from the CRKT catalog, the K.I.S.S. packs a tanto-tipped working blade, a solid frame lock, thumb-stud one-handed opening, and a pocket/money-clip carry system into one of the most affordable folders in the lineup.
