The Colt Mfg M5 Carbine Sentry is a 5.56x45mm NATO semi-automatic carbine built around a fully redesigned upper and lower receiver set machined from MIL-SPEC forged 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in MIL-SPEC matte black Type-III hard coat anodize. The Sentry configuration pairs Colt's modernized M5 chassis, with full ambidextrous controls and an enhanced upper receiver rail, with a 16.10" barrel and a classic black A2 pistol grip for a streamlined, duty-ready setup.

Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO with a 30+1 capacity, the M5 Carbine Sentry feeds from a detachable magazine. The 16.10" barrel uses a 1:7 twist, and the carbine adjusts to an overall length of 32" to 35.50" via its black collapsible buttstock. Unloaded weight is 6.80 lbs, placing the M5 Carbine Sentry in the mid-weight tactical carbine class.

A safety selector switch sits on the lower receiver alongside the ambidextrous controls, and sighting is handled by flip-up front and rear iron sights mounted to the enhanced upper receiver rail.
