The Colt Gold Cup Trophy is a competition-bred 1911-style pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, built on a bright stainless steel platform. The O5072XE configuration pairs a precision 5" National Match steel barrel with a stainless steel slide wearing a classic serrated top end and a matching stainless frame shaped with an upswept beavertail grip safety for a high, positive hold.

Built around Colt's Series 70 firing system, the action runs cleanly through a wide 3-hole trigger set inside an undercut trigger guard to drive the shooting hand higher into the frame. Colt's dual-spring recoil system tames slide travel, and an integrated magwell funnels the 9-round single-stack magazine home quickly under match pressure. The slide carries an ambidextrous manual thumb safety matched to the beavertail grip safety for safe carry.

Sights are chosen for deliberate sight picture: a Novak fiber-optic front draws the eye fast under any light, while a fully adjustable Bomar-style rear lets the shooter dial in point of impact. Competition Blue G10 grip panels are heavily checkered at 25 LPI for a confident hold in both dry and wet conditions, complementing the bright stainless slide with a sharp visual break.
