The Charter Arms Pitbull is a purpose-built large-frame revolver that brings the cost-effective, widely-available 9mm Luger cartridge to a five-shot revolver platform. Made in the USA by Charter Arms, the Pitbull line was developed for shooters who want revolver simplicity and reliability combined with the ammunition commonality of the most popular centerfire pistol round in America. Charter's signature Pitbull design uses a dual coil spring assembly located in the extractor to securely manage rimless 9mm cartridges in a traditional revolver cylinder.

This 79960 configuration features a long 6" barrel and a full matte stainless steel frame, cylinder, and barrel, giving the Pitbull a clean, modern look with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel and the low-glare benefits of a matte finish. The revolver carries 5 rounds of 9mm Luger in its cylinder, and a DA/SA (double-action/single-action) trigger with an exposed hammer lets the shooter choose between long double-action pulls for the first shot or cocked single-action fire for precision work.

Iron sights are arranged in a traditional revolver pattern with a fixed front blade and an adjustable rear for dialing in holdover at distance, suiting the longer sight radius that comes with the 6" barrel. The grip frame is fitted with black finger-grooved rubber grips that fill the hand and help manage the felt recoil of the 9mm cartridge, with a total weight of 25 oz. Falling within the 6" to 6.99" barrel length range and 16 oz to 31.99 oz weight range, this large-frame Pitbull sits in the full-size, long-barrel end of the family.
