The Carlsons Snap Cap in 17 HMR is a dry-fire training dummy round built from solid aluminum with a spring-loaded striking area designed to cushion and protect your firearm's firing pin during repeated practice sessions. By absorbing the energy of the firing pin strike instead of a live primer, these snap caps safely release the firing pin spring, prevent damage to the breech face, and help prolong the life of the main spring.

Each dummy round is machined to correct 17 HMR dimensions, allowing safe chambering, dry-firing, and function-checking in any compatible rifle or pistol. The aluminum body is tough enough to handle repeated drops and repeated dry-fire cycles while maintaining proper rimfire case geometry. They are an excellent tool for teaching new shooters proper trigger control and for breaking the flinch habit on rimfire platforms.
