The Browning X-Bolt 2 Hunter Composite is a bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in 30-06 Springfield, built around a 22-inch threaded sporter barrel with a radial muzzle brake installed. Designed as a versatile big-game hunting rifle, the X-Bolt 2 Hunter pairs a matte blued steel receiver and barrel with a black Vari-Tech composite stock that offers an adjustable length of pull, adjustable comb, and interchangeable grip modules so the rifle can be dialed in for different shooters and shooting positions.

The action is a traditional long-action bolt design with a top-tang safety for safe carry and handling. The factory trigger is Browning's adjustable Deluxe trigger, set from the factory at roughly 3.5 pounds and adjustable down to about 3 pounds. The barrel is a threaded sporter profile with a 1:10 rate of twist to stabilize a wide range of bullet weights for the 30-06 Springfield cartridge.

The X-Bolt 2 Hunter feeds from a detachable box magazine, and this rifle ships with one 4-round magazine installed for a 4+1 capacity. There are no iron sights installed from the factory, leaving the top of the action clean for the shooter's preferred optic. The threaded barrel allows the radial muzzle brake to be swapped for a suppressor or aftermarket muzzle device.

At an overall length of 42.75 inches and a weight of 6 lbs 12 oz, the rifle is light and compact enough to carry all day in the field.
