The Barnes Bullets Varmint Grenade in 22 Hornet is a 30 grain, .224" diameter flat base hollow point reloading bullet designed for ultra-high-velocity varmint cartridges. Part of Barnes' Ultra High Velocity series, this lead-free projectile is engineered to deliver explosive, predictable terminal performance on small game and predators.

Originally developed for military applications, the Varmint Grenade pairs a frangible copper-tin powdered metal core with a copper (gilding metal) jacket. The hollow-cavity, flat-base design keeps the bullet intact during ultra-high-velocity flight and lets it burst into fragments on impact, expending energy quickly and producing little to no exit wound on larger animals.

Technical specifications include a .101 ballistic coefficient, a .085 sectional density, and an overall length of .557", with no cannelure. The all-copper construction means there is no lead core to deal with at the bench or in the field.
