With the required, and included, adapter properly installed in the rifle (a single #29 drill bit & 8-32 tap to the receiver is all that is needed), these 30rd SKS magazines can be inserted and removed in most SKS rifles the same as AK-47 mags*!

- Remove trigger assembly
- Lift barreled action free of stock
- Remove original magazine assembly from action
- Reinsert action into stock & lay action/stock upside down on flat surface
- Place MAGSKS08 adapter over magazine lug
- Center adapter in the stock cut-out & tap forward with mallet until bottomed on the lug
- Mark adapter screw hole through bolt opening with center punch
- Remove action from stock & drill .200 deep with #29 bit
- Tap hole with 8-32 tap
- Use mallet to tap adapter back onto lug and insert screw finger tight

Once all parts are reinstalled in stock, magazine is inserted exactly the same as AK, M14, etc. Insert the front of the magazine and roll back until magazine catch snaps in place.

Excellent concept and it works
I was skeptical about these mags. I literally cannot find any information about them anywhere on the internet save for a few random gun forums, and even then they don't say much. This place is the only place I can find these mags. Never seen anything like it. I absolutely cannot stand the duckbill problem that comes with standard sks mags. So for $12 I decided to give this a try. I took it to my gunsmith who installed the adapter for $40. He also shaved off just a tad of the feed lips to make feeding easier. I loaded and unloaded the mags to to play around with them and I noticed the rounds got stuck a few times in the mag. So I put a few drops of oil on the inside of the mag to help with this. It worked. Took everything to the range and ran 30 rounds through it 3 times with zero malfunctions. Mag inserted and ejected with ease. I was very pleasantly surprised. My only concern is the durability. I haven't put these mags through any abuse. I don't know how well the feed lips will hold up over time. I'm wondering if maybe I can modify a more durable mag, like a pmag, to have the same kind of mag catch lip to work with the adapter that comes with this setup. Regardless, I'm ordering more. "why don't you just get an AK?" you ask. Well, I am a huge sks fan and always have been. So when I saw an opportunity for a duckbill-less option for the sks mags, I took it upon myself to make it work, and it did. Even with the extra money, time, and effort spent in the modifications needed in order to make these mags work and run reliably, they are still worth it in my opinion. So if you're ad passionate about your sks as I am and are looking for a small project to improve and modernize your sks, think about giving these a go. It might surprise you.
