The Sig Sauer MCX Spear is a next-generation semi-automatic rifle chambered in 6.8x51mm (commercially designated .277 Fury by Sig Sauer), designed for serious sporting, duty, and defensive applications. Built around the modern 6.8x51mm cartridge, the MCX Spear delivers a substantial step up in velocity and terminal performance compared to traditional intermediate rifle cartridges, while keeping the handling familiar to anyone trained on an AR-pattern platform.
At the heart of this variant is a 16" steel threaded barrel with a 1:7 twist, capped at the muzzle with the Clutch-Lock QD flash hider for fast attachment of compatible muzzle devices or suppressors. The bolt is driven by a gas-piston operating system, and the alloy steel receiver hosts an ambidextrous operating layout paired with an ambidextrous lever safety and a clean curved match trigger. The M-LOK handguard up front provides ready mounting points for lights, lasers, foregrips, and bipods.
This configuration is finished in coyote anodized and comes equipped with a Magpul SL-M folding/telescoping stock that collapses for compact transport and stows neatly to the side when the rifle needs to ride short. Sights are not included, allowing the shooter to mount their preferred optic directly on the optics-ready receiver. Overall length measures 38.30" with the stock extended, and unloaded weight comes in at 9.20 lbs.
Out of the box, the MCX Spear ships with one 20-round steel magazine, letting the shooter immediately exercise the rifle's full 20+1 capacity. Whether fielding it for professional use, home defense, or hard-hitting hunting with the 6.8x51mm, the Spear pairs Sig Sauer's proven engineering with the performance of the modern cartridge it was designed around.
