The Cimarron CA281 1873 Short Rifle is a faithful lever-action recreation of Winchester's most famous Old West centerfire, originally manufactured from 1873 to 1919 and routinely paired on the frontier with the legendary 1873 Peacemaker revolver. Chambered in 45 Colt (Long Colt), this compact rifle is built around a 20" blued octagon barrel with a 1:16" twist and a full-length tube magazine for a 10+1 capacity.
The color case-hardened stainless steel receiver wears the authentic mottled blue, silver, and charcoal finish that defined the original 1873 pattern, paired with a classic walnut fixed stock in a warm brown finish and a right-hand stock configuration. Outfitted with a blade front sight and adjustable rear sight, the rifle is ready for traditional open-sight shooting right out of the box.
At 43.25" overall and weighing 7.90 lbs, this new Cimarron factory offering balances quickly at the wrist for offhand shooting, cowboy-action stages, and traditional saddle-gun carry alike. Its simple, rugged lever mechanism asks very little of the shooter in terms of maintenance, making the 1873 Short Rifle a rewarding pick for Western recreation, plinking, and Old West history enthusiasts.
