The Savage Arms Axis XP Combo Compact is a purpose-built left-handed bolt-action rifle chambered in .308 Winchester, designed for hunters and shooters who want a compact, ready-to-shoot package straight from the factory.

At the heart of this Axis XP is a 20-inch button-rifled carbon steel barrel mated to a matte black carbon steel receiver and finished with a black synthetic Fixed Sporter stock. The compact 20-inch barrel trims overall length to 39.50 inches and keeps weight to a backcountry-friendly 7.40 lbs. A 1:10" twist stabilizes common .308 Win bullet weights, making the rifle equally at home on the range or in the deer woods.

Feeding from a 4-round detachable box magazine (one included), the Axis cycles rounds through Savage's smooth, time-tested bolt action. The factory ships this combo with no iron sights; instead, Savage installs a factory-mounted Weaver 3-9x40 scope on a two-piece Weaver-style base, so the rifle is range- and hunt-ready right out of the box. The receiver is drilled and tapped for future optic or accessory swaps.
