The Savage Axis 2 XP Combo packages Savage Arms' proven bolt-action hunting platform into a complete, range-ready .308 Winchester rifle. As the Compact configuration, this model ships with a shorter 20-inch barrel and trimmed overall length for a more maneuverable carry, in a Right Hand action layout.

At the core is a 20" Heavy Sporter contour barrel, button-rifled with a 1:10" rate-of-twist - a flexible twist that stabilizes the full range of .308 Win bullet weights used for whitetail, mule deer, and similar North American big game. The bolt-action receiver is machined from carbon steel and finished matte black, and the rifle feeds from a single 4-round detachable box magazine for a 4+1 capacity. Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger is standard equipment, allowing the shooter to set pull weight to personal preference without visiting a gunsmith.

The fixed synthetic stock is molded in OD Green with contoured grip panels and a matching fore-end for a secure hold in adverse weather.
