The Savage Axis 2 Compact is a left-hand bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in .243 Winchester. Purpose-built for shooters who need a shorter, lighter, and easier-handling platform, this Axis 2 variant delivers the redesigned ergonomics and out-of-the-box accuracy of the full-size model in a more compact package sized for smaller-stature, youth, and backcountry hunters.

Up front, a 20" heavy sporter contour barrel finished in matte black features a 1:9.25" twist rate that stabilizes a wide range of .243 Win bullet weights, from light varmint loads up to heavier big-game projectiles. The carbon steel receiver is also matte black and drilled and tapped for scope mounting, and the rifle ships with no iron sights installed so you can mount the optic of your choice right out of the box.

Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you tune the pull weight to your preference without a trip to the gunsmith, and the smooth bolt feeds from a 4+1 round internal box magazine.
