The Taurus Judge is a compact double-action/single-action revolver built around Taurus's signature dual-chamber concept, capable of firing both 45 Colt (Long Colt) cartridges and 410 Bore (2.5") shotshells from the same five-shot cylinder. Originally named for the many judges who chose to carry one for courtroom protection, the Judge pairs a defensive shotshell option for very short-range encounters with the longer-range capability of the .45 Colt, making it a distinctive and versatile personal-protection handgun.

This configuration features a 3" barrel on a compact alloy steel frame, with an overall length of just 9.5" and a weight of 1.81 lbs. The barrel, cylinder, and frame are all finished in a non-reflective matte black oxide for a tough, low-glare surface. The exposed hammer allows for deliberate single-action cocking, while the internal transfer-bar safety provides a mechanical firing-pin block between the hammer and the cartridge.
