The Midwest Industries MI-STAP-SF-BT is a heavy-duty side-folding Picatinny buffer tube adapter built for AR-platform rifles configured with a gas piston operating system and a flat 1913 Picatinny rail at the rear of the receiver. The adapter provides the mounting interface needed to attach a standard mil-spec buffer tube and collapsible stock, then folds the entire stock assembly to the side for compact storage and transport.

Constructed from 4140 steel and finished in black manganese phosphate, the mechanism delivers the rugged durability expected of a hard-use rifle component. A full-length locking lug provides maximum strength at the hinge, and the design achieves a solid, positive lock-up in both the open and folded positions. The folder can be configured to fold to either the right or left side, and the modular design accommodates different stock configurations.

Installed, the adapter adds 2.5 inches to the overall length of the firearm in the open position and only 0.75 inches in the folded position. The folding adapter assembly installs directly to the host rifle's rear Picatinny rail; a mil-spec buffer tube and stock are attached separately to complete the installation.
