The Speer Hot-Cor is a lead-core, copper-jacketed rifle bullet built around Speer's signature molten-lead core-and-jacket bonding process. This .338 caliber projectile is offered in a 200 grain Spitzer Soft Point configuration, with a soft lead nose exposed at the meplat for reliable expansion on impact and a copper jacket that holds together for deep penetration.
During Hot-Cor construction, molten lead is poured directly into the copper jacket, producing a consistent core-to-jacket bond and tight bullet-weight tolerance from one projectile to the next. That single-step process keeps Hot-Cor an affordable hunting-projectile option without sacrificing all-range accuracy and dependable terminal performance on game.
At 200 grains with a ballistic coefficient of .448 and a sectional density of .250, this bullet performs well at moderate hunting velocities. Handloaders commonly pair it with the .338 Federal, .338-06, and similar medium-velocity cartridges, where it delivers consistent expansion on medium to large game.
This is Speer part number 2405, sold as a 50-count box of uncanelurated 1.135 in projectiles intended for handloaders building accurate, hard-hitting hunting-grade ammunition.
